Three Eras
"I remember going to sleep as a girl and hearing the Ku Klux Klan ride at night and hearing a lynching and being afraid the house would burn down."
- Rosa Parks
Throughout the three eras of the Ku Klux Klan, the Klan showed their legacy of hate against the groups that they persecuted. During their first era, the Klan focused on killing free and politically motivated African-Americans. The Klan killed whites who were educating black children. The second era focused on intimidation of Catholics and Jews. The third and final era, which continues, focuses on blacks who are beginning to gain rights and join society during the Civil Rights Movement.
